Armand Marseille

 

Armand Marseille was a Russian Dollmaker who emigrated to Germany in the 1860's
He was a superb Dollmaker and eventually bought out Mathias Lambers toy factory in 1884

Armand expanded bis porcelain doll business to keep up with demand until in 1885 he also purchased his other factory from Lidbermann and Wegscher in Koppelsdorf so that he could manufacture his own bisque and porcelain heads and limbs.

Armands business expanded until he was making over 1,000 bisque heads each day.
.A wide range of bisque heads and character dolls were sold wholesale to dozens of different dollmakers for completion in their own factories.

Although he made many different dolls with kid leather bodies, or cloth bodies,the Armand Marseille company bought in bisque bodies from other manufacturers.

Many Doll Makers were operating in the Thuringia region and widely traded with each other so that some dolls had parts from three or more makers.
