Parian Doll
Parian is made from a very white fine marble from Paros in Greece.
Parian Dolls are of fine white Bisque (unglazed porcelain) without tinting.
Bisque is normally tinted pink so a Parian Doll has a much whiter face.
They were almost all made in one of the numerous factories in Thuringia.
It is very difficult to identify them from each other.
As Parian Dolls usualy have finer detail than Bisque ones, it is not unusual to see
pierced ears,glass eyes,applied flowers etc.
There are lots of fakes around made with old molds stolen from factories in Thuringia at the end of World War Two.
