Leather Body

 

Leather Dolls were originally made as a luxury flexible body and had a high quality Bisque head attached.
Cheaper Dolls had composition bodies.
A Leather body is usually the sign of a doll from a major French or German Maker.

 

Cheaper dolls were either made owith either composition ,papier mache or wooden bodies

A leather body made the doll really flexible and it could normally be bent or turned.

 

Heads from a major Maker like Simon Halbg were fitted and the doll would then be dressed and accessorized.
