Fashion Dolls Review
Fashion Dolls from France were originally a marketing tool used by French Dressmakers and Milliners to show their creations easily and quickly to Royalty and the Nobility of France.
This eventually spread to other European Courts at the sugestion of King Louis XIV th.
The dresses were in fact complete outfits and the dressmakers would create subtle changes according to the customers requirements
Although the original Fashion Dolls were quite large, dressmakers soon realised that they could get the same effect with smaller dolls.
It was much easier to take a dressed Fashion doll (or several) to show the customer than to wander around with full sized dresses.
Later on top Paris dressmakers realised that they could sell to provincial customers and hire travelling salesmen to travel the length and breadth of France
The idea caught on and soon children wanted similar dolls and they wanted them also dressed in the latest fashions.
Dollmakers quickly realised the potential of this and obligingly created ranges of Fashion Dolls.
