Bleuette Doll. The most popular French Doll for collectors to sew their own costumes.

Early Bleuettes have BISQUE Heads and later Bleuettes were sold with composition heads.

All Bleuettes had composition bodies and these were fully jointed.

 

They were produced by S.F.B.J. Fleishmann and Blodel and UNIS.
A Bleuette made between 1905 and 1933 is 10 5/8 inches tall but after 1933 she was made 11 3/8 inches tall.

 

Bleuette should have corresponding correct head markings with also one on the feet and two on the body.

 

Marks include SFBJ301,SFBJ60,UNIS France 301 and UNIS France 60

 

A real Bleuette should be either 27 cm or 29 cm

 

There are NO Fleischmann 8/0 heads for early Bleuettes.

 

Bleuette was originally a premium give-away for a French Magazine called La Semaine de Suzette
(Suzettes Weekly Magazine) and this was aimed at French Girls who took out a subscription.

The original costume was by Gautier-Languereau and these are quite valuable.

 

Over 1000 different patterns for clothes for Bleuette were given away in the magazine as Bleuette was designed for girls to sew their own costumes for her.

This means that apart from the original costume you will find many hundreds of differently clad Bleuettes offered.

Dolls in Original Boxes will identify the Doll as Bleuette or GL

Not all Dolls sold as Bleuettes are actually Bluettes  as French Doll Makers are well aware of the additional value of a Bluette.

 

Some Shops sold Bleuettes in their own specific boxes with their own paper tags and unique clothing.

Bluettes did in fact come in specific presentation clothes normally but this varies according to the Era

Early Bleuettes fetch thousands of dollars at auction.

The Bleuette Doll was in production until 1960

 

Bleuette is still popular today with those who like to sew their own costumes (after all they have over 50 years of patterns to choses from !).
