Boy Dolls

 

Boy Dolls in Victorian times were really very similar to girl dolls.
Only in the last half of the 20th century did dollmaker produce more agressive dolls of a military Nature.
Ken of Barbie and Ken fame is of course an exception to this.

In Victorian times, boys were often dressed in dresses and encouraged to play with dolls.
It was common for boys to play with their favouite boy doll.

As German companies made more boy dolls than anyone else, you will commonly see boy dolls in Traditional Germn costume although Frozen Charlies and Boy Kewpie dolls are fairly common.
Occasional nodder and clapper antique boy dolls can sometimes be seen

Rare still are fully jointed boy dolls  as half dolls and jonted arm dolls are more common.

Only in recent years were more educational dolls made - these included Teach me to dress dolls,potty training dolls and anatomically correct dolls.
